Out for a Hike!

On Saturday we went for a hike with Luke's new carrier! It was a gorgeous day and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. We have determined that we will do it again...it was so close, just up Placerita Canyon! We started at a little nature center that has all sorts of trails that branch off the main trail head. We chose the waterfall trail and started on our adventure.

Luke loved being in the carrier and was in a good mood the entire trip.

Taking a little break! About two miles in there is an area with picnic tables. Next time we'll bring lunch! We didn't think it was as long as it turned out to be... 5 miles round trip!

Danny did a great job carrying Luke. He did all but 1/2 a mile. I did the 1/2 mile of the leg that got us to the waterfall and it was about all I could do just to make it there. Needless to say, we'll have to do some more practicing before the big hike at Rock Creek.

THE WATERFALL!! Or should I say "watertrickle"? While the waterfall wasn't that impressive, it was very nice sounding and was a shady spot to take a break. We'll have to check back after this next big rain storm to see if there is more water!

In preparation for our camping trip to Rock Creek (we're really excited....we don't go until the end of June!) we bought a backpack carrier for Luke with Christmas money! Luke LOVES it and we are all excited for our first hike on Saturday!

This is what happens when you leave a baby alone with a bottle of water. I gave him the bottle, walked into the kitchen and came back to find Luke completely sprayed with water. I'm not exactly sure how he did it, but he seemed as suprised as I was!
