A little background on this story...we have been really working with Bethany to try and cement in her brain the authority structure in our home: she is NOT the one who gets to make decisions and that Mommy/Daddy are in charge. Sometimes she has to do things she doesn't want to just because Mommy/Daddy tell her to. I'm going to call it the princess mentality. (Are all little girls born that way???) Anyway....
This afternoon I was walking past the kids' room while Bethany was sitting on the ground pushing Buzz Lightyear's buttons. This is what I heard:
Buzz: "My ship has crash landed. Who's in charge here?"
Bethany (without a moment's hesitation): "Mommy/Daddy."
Yay!! At least if she's able to tell someone else about it, maybe someday she'll get it!!!...even if it was only Buzz! :)
